Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between FFJCP and full time daycare?

A: FFJCP is a preschool, we do not provide primary caregiving. Fulltime daycare facilities provide primary caregiving to children who have no one at home to care for them. The majority of FFJCP students have some kind of caregiver at home and come to FFJCPfor social, emotional and academic learning.

Q: Why is our full day 9:00am - 2:45pm?

A: The Ministry of Education has 2 kinds of programs in licensed childcare in Ontario; those that run longer than 6 hours (full time daycare) and those that run for six hours or less. Programs that run longer than 6 hours fall into the full time daycare category and have different regulations that govern them (i.e. children have to nap for 2 hours each day).

Q: Does my child need to be toilet trained?

A: No. We will do whatever you are doing at home. If they start to train while at FFJCP, we will support them through it.

Q: What is the ratio of students to teachers?

A: Our Pre-Nursery programs have a 1:5 ratio with a maximum of 15 students. Our Nursery programs have a ratio of 1:8 with a maximum of 16, 20 or 24 depending on location

Q: Is our food kosher?

A: The menu at both of our locations are kosher and only dairy.

Q: How many days a week should my child attend Pre-Nursery?

A: There is no magic answer to this. We encourage parents to do what works for them logistically and financially. Your child is so young and will do well with however many days a week you send them.

Q: Can my child enroll once the school year has started?

A: We accept students past September if we have space available.

Q: Why does my child have to do a full day of Nursery?

A: Our Full Day Nursery Program is designed to provide our students with the strong foundation they need to transition confidently and happily into Junior Kindergarten. Every aspect of our program works towards creating capable and confident learners who are ready to succeed in JK when they graduate.
